As Head of Operations, you will support the CEO in improving existing processes and take care of all administrative jobs, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. We are a highly international and very experienced team, based in Berlin and backed by top European investors.

The role

As Head of Operations at Tandem, you will work closely with the CEO in the areas of finance, HR, office and culture management.

Within the area of finance and management you will:
  • Act as the main point of contact for our tax advisor and assist them with the preparation of month end financial statements and payrolls
  • Lead and oversee the work of Tandem’s part-time finance assistant, who prepares bills and invoices
  • Be the main point of contact for all service providers (IT, cleaning company, landlord, etc.)
  • Support the CEO with internal KPI reporting and financial analysis
  • Ensure Tandem is GDPR compliant, update our GDPR documentation on a regular basis and communicate with our external DPO
  • Manage contracts
Within the area of HR you will:
  • Be heavily involved in all steps of the hiring process, from job proposal to onboarding
  • Support managers in the recruiting process (active sourcing)
  • Organize and prepare the annual salary review process & regular appraisal meetings
  • Submit payroll information to the payroll company
  • Support Tandem’s international team in navigating German bureaucracy, especially during onboarding
  • Act as the first point of contact in all legal matters, especially labour law
Within the area of office and culture management you will:
  • Focus on maintaining the positive company culture and create an amazing, inspiring office environment
  • Establish and coordinate office processes
  • Organize regular team events, excursions, weekly team lunches, German classes and other company events
  • Order food, drinks & office supplies for the team
  • Organize birthday gifts & cakes
  • Act as the direct contact person for our subtenants
You are the right fit for the role if:
  • You are fluent in written and spoken German and English
  • You have work experience in a similar role for at least 3-5 years
  • You are passionate about building an exceptional company culture in a dynamic startup environment
  • You are both very organised and communicative
  • You are familiar with German labour law and HR processes
  • You are comfortable both working and thinking independently
  • You can be available for 30 hours or more per week
  • You hold a commercial degree or comparable qualification
  • You enjoy working with talented people from around the world
